TN voters deny bail to Kanimozhi; DMK in doldrums

The DMK seem to be in a foul mood after the dreadful setback it received from the hands of the Tamil janta (Tamilians). At last, its Jayalalithaa to have the last laugh with a thumping, almost landslide victory for the AIADMK. Her victory being almost certain with a clear majority, she can afford to ignore allies in forming the government.

But the DMK, who are sulking in the background, seem to be suffering a double blow. The impact was felt when, DMK's channel, Kalaignar TV decided to stop election coverage immediately after signs of defeat emerged. They fell back on showing popular soaps and old movies of Shivaji Ganesan.

But the other question being asked is about Kanimozhi's fate after DMK's huge debacle at the people's hand. In spite of the laptops, grinders and cell phones offered as goodies, it looks like Jaya's effort to woo women voters providing funds and mangalsutra's (knot) for girls marriages did the trick for her. But, amidst all of this, it will be interesting to watch how the the 2G spectrum scam probe would progress.

Kanimozhi is already on her way back to New Delhi seeking bail and evading arrest over her involvement in the murky telecom scandal. In spite of strong backing from her lawyer, Ram Jethmalani who argued that 'she was a woman and a mother and should not be arrested', reports suggest that she will have to face the real music now.

Will it be bail or jail for the precious kani of the DMK family?
