Jagan gives jitters to Cong with thumping victory

Kadapa, May 13: Kadapa constituency in Andhra Pradesh is resonating with a massive Jagan Mohan Reddy wave. With a thumping victory by a margin of 5, 43,053 votes against both the Congress and TDP rival, the margin only indicates the upper hand he enjoys in his home constituency. Taking over the Congress head on, this is Jagan's first major taste of success.

The Kadapa Lok Sabha seat was touted as Jagan's stronghold and with his win he has ousted his rivals in the Congress party DL Ravindra Reddy and TDP candidate MV Mysura Reddy. Banking on the goodwill generated by his father, YS Rajashekhara Reddy and the fiery rhetoric that he was able to covert to votes comes as no surprise. His sudden demise in a helicopter accident had catapulted Jagan to a whole new level in the political scene.

Breaking his father's victory margin of 4,18,000 votes, Jagan's victory is all the more sweeter. But it has to be remembered that Jagan has still not been able to break the all-time record set by PV Narasimha Rao when he swept the Nadyala loksabha seat with a 5,70,000 vote majority.

Jagan's mother tasted victory against YSR's brother, YS Vivekananda Reddy by a margin of 86,000 votes in the Pulivendula constituency. The family politics that became public during the course of the elections, will now see a renewed fervour in the Jagan camp and more fuel to take over the Congress High Command (read Sonia Gandhi).
