Maya's trick to engulf BJP's black day; Rajnath Singh held

Mayawati
Noida, May 9: The main opposition party, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had earlier declared that the party would observe a black day in Uttar Pradesh on Monday, May 9 over the government's torment on farmers. Without leaving a single inch for the opposition leaders, Mayawati government started blocking the agitating leaders to enter the state.

According to the latest information, BJP's Rajnath Singh, who was expected to meet the farmers in Greater Noida, has been arrested on his way to Noida. Another opposition leader Shivpal Yadav was also taken into preventive custody on Monday.

Earlier BJP chief Surya Pratap Shahi had stated, "Black day would be observed at all district headquarters from Greater Noida to Agra to protest against use of brutal force by State Government to suppress the agitation and against its dictatorial approach and anti-farmer policies."

Stating about BJP's agenda behind the protest, Shahi claimed, "BJP urges the state government to immediately hold talks with farmers and address their genuine grievances, provide compensation to the kith and kin of farmers killed in police action and hold a magisterial inquiry into use of force against peacefully agitating farmers."

The farmers agitation, which was started over forcible acquisition of their farmlands by the state government, had been intensified on Sunday, May 8 when four people were killed during the violence.
