Kanimozhi gets unconditional support from DMK

Inspite of dissenting voices, the DMK has maintained that a persons name in a charge sheet does not mean that they are guilty. The decision was made during a high-level meeting by the DMK over the chargesheet and what lies in the future alliance with UPA. Kanimozhi has been quoted as saying to the media present there that they will fight the issue legally.
The DMK has issued a statement on the issue, “2G spectrum issue being used by some parties to create lack of confidence among UPA allies and break alliance." It was not just Kanimozhi but the charge sheet had also named Sharad Kumar, the managing director of Kalaignar TV, as a co-conspirator. It was alleged that Kanimozhi received bribes to the tune of Rs 200 crore from the spectrum scam. Reports also claimed that she was the “active brain" in the 2G spectrum controversy.
A DMK ally and President of the PMK, GK Mani stated, “The alliance is strong and will continue. There may not be any change in DMK-Congress alliance." It has to be remembered that the DMK needs the Congress more than the other way round following the spate of controversies that have emerged against various DMK members.
