From politicians to celebrities, Sai Baba's death unites all
With many high profile followers who have called themselves Sai Baba devotees for life, he was the messiah who riddled them of all their problems and worries. As much as he gave unbridled love and affection to those living in the upper strata of society, he also made sure his benevolence was felt by the down trodden and less fortunate also.
Among his benefactors were famed Uganadan dictator Idi Amin to whom Sai Baba was a calming influence. The two met in Uganda when Sai Baba traveled there way back in 1968. Idi Amin is believed to have sought an audience with the Baba almost everyday during his visits.
The others important people include Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, former Union Minister Shivraj Patil, Former President APJ Abdul Kalam, former Chief Justice of Supreme Court PN Bhagawati and former chairperson of Rajya Sabha Najma Heptullah, Ashok Chavan, S M Krishna, M K Stalin, Chandrababu Naidu, AP Minister Geeta Reddy and AP CM Kiran Kumar Reddy.
When film actors and celebrities also feature in the list, they include Amitabh Bachchan, Jackie Shroff, cricketers Sunil Gavaskar, Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid and Anil Kumble, VVS Laxman and Bollywood singer Kunal Ganjawala.
The master blaster Sachin Tendulkar and cricketer VVS Laxman visited the Sai Baba seeking his blessings prior to proceeding for the crucial World Cup match.
The other extensive 6 million devotees spread across the world is only mourning the sad demise of their moral anchor and spiritual guru. But for others who have had an impact with the teachings of Sai Baba and never had the opportunity to meet him personally will cherish his words of wisdom for days to come.
There are many devotees who think that “Devotees do not choose to meet the Sai Baba, but Baba himself decides on who to give darshan."
