Birth & Death: Irony links up Sachin Tendulkar & Sai Baba

Puttaparthi, Apr 24: It seems that an irony connects Sachin Tendulkar and Sathya Sai Baba forever. When India's pride Sachin Tendulkar celebrated his 38th birthday, the spiritual guru, whom Sachin believes the most, passed away. On Sunday, Apr 24, Sai Baba died following prolonged illness. (

The iconic player will not celebrate his birthday with a major birthday bash to pay his last tribute to the godman, sources informed. Sachin earlier tweeted, "I m praying for Shri Sathya Sai Baba's quick recovery. Hope everyone will join me in praying for his return to good health."

Amid tight security, Sai Baba's followers rushed to Puttaparthi where his body will be kept till Tuesday, Apr 26. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy and former CM K Rossaiah have already started for the holy place. (Sai Baba lived and died in Puttaparthi)

Some of his noted followers are - actor Amitabh Bachchan, cricketers Sunil Gavaskar, Rahul Dravid, Anil Kumble, VVS Laxman, politicians Shivraj Patil, Ashok Chavan, S M Krishna, M K Stalin and Chandrababu Naidu.

Satya Sai Baba was admitted at the super-specialty hospital at Prashantigram at Puttaparthi following respiratory problems on Mar 28. The 85 year has had many health issues earlier. But his condition worsened recently.
