Reunion time for 2G fraudsters in Tihar Jail!

Some of the biggest names in corporate circles Gautam Doshi (ADA Group Managing Director), Sanjay Chandra ( MD of Unitech Wireless), Vinod Goenka ( DB Group Promoter), Hari Nair and Surendra Pipara (both from Reliance) had to spent the night in jail. They were charged under various sections including criminal conspiracy, cheating and abetment to cheating.
The developments in the 2G scam case has gone from bad to worse with the recent arrests bringing shame to the Indian Corporate World. While those arrested pleaded to the judiciary saying that, they had fully co-operated with the CBI during investigation and mentioned that the CBI had not arrested them during the same. They also sought excuse from arrest since they claimed that they appeared before the judiciary after they were summoned by the special CBI judge.
The bail plea was opposed by the CBI since it thought that those arrested were influential and would tamper with key evidence and intimidate witnesses. They also feared that they could abscond hampering investigations.
The special CBI judge OP Saini expressed agreement with the charges levelled against Doshi, Chandra and others and was of the opinion not to grant bail to them. The CBI lawyer AK Singh, however said, “They are free to move for bail now...whenever they want." Following the bail rejection, Vinod Goenka moved the Delhi High Court and all others followed suit. But keeping in consideration the turn of events, the honchos walking free is not likely to happen soon.
