Mobile phone
New Delhi, Apr 20: Many big names have been emerged in the 2G spectrum scam which is believed to be the biggest money laundering scam in the country. Today (Wednesday, Apr 20) the special CBI court rejected the bail plea of the five corporate honchos - Reliance executives Gautam Doshi, Hari Nair and Sanjay Pipara along with Unitech's Sanjay Chandra and DB Group's Vinod Goenka.

All five accused corporate leaders have been sent to Tihar jail as the court dismissed their bail plea. The accused were sent to jail for 14-day judicial custody.

The investigating agency CBI opposed bail to the corporate people on the grounds that they could tamper with evidence. However, the defence lawyers of the accused claimed that since the CBI didn't feel the need to arrest them during the investigations, they (corporate honchos) shouldn't be taken into custody even now.

The special CBI court also conducted hearing on charges against all the 12 accused, including three leading telecom companies - Reliance Telecom Ltd, Swan Telecom Ltd and Unitech Wireless (Tamil Nadu) Pvt Ltd.
