Black Money: ED gets green signal to probe Puducherry Guv

New Delhi, Apr 19: Dismissing all speculations, the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) on Tuesday, Apr 19, permitted the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to grill the Puducherry Governor Iqbal Singh regarding his connection with Hasan Ali, the main accused in the Black Money case.

Iqbal Singh allegedly helped Hasan Ali to manage a passport when Singh was a Congress leader in Bihar. Now, the ED had faced bureaucratic hurdles to summon Singh directly as he is the Lt Governor of Puducherry.

As the Lt Governor, Singh has enjoyed the Parliamentary immunity and the ED was compelled to have permission from the Home Ministry to inquire Singh regarding his alleged connection with Hasan Ali. However, with the permission of PMO, the ED will soon grill the Puducherry governor.

Meanwhile, Iqbal Singh, claiming his innocence, stated, "I'm ready for any kind of inquiry by any authority. If I'm asked to, I'm ready to resign from my post. But so far there is no indication from anyone."

"I have no relation with Hasan Ali, nor do I know him personally. My conscience is clear. I didn't do anything wrong," claimed Iqbal Singh.
