Congress leaders come in support of BJP MLA

Batala, April 17: A faction of Congress led by former party President Kasturi Lal Seth today extended support to local BJP MLA Jagdish Sahni, whose partymen denied supporting his Batala bandh call against the state government for not according revenue district status to the industrial town.

Against the alleged apathy of the state government to provide revenue district status to Batala, Sahni had called for a complete bandh in the town on April 22 but his own partymen led by District BJP President, Vivek Modgill had denied to extend any support to the bandh call.

Seth said that the agitation on providing district status to the town was started by former Congress councillor, Jatinder Mahna and was once again started by Sahni and his supporters. He appealed to the residents to close their shops and other commercial establishments on April 22.
