Tamil Nadu and Kerala assembly polls begin

According to latest reports, voting has started briskly in both the states. To ensure that the polls are free, fair and without the occurrence of any untoward incidents, heavy security has been deployed in both the states. More than 2.5 lakh security personnels have been deployed to ensure smooth polling in all the constituencies of the two states.
In Kerala around 2.31 crore people, including 8862 NRIs, will exercise their franchise today while Tamil Nadu will see 4.59 crore voters choosing from 2748 candidates across 234 constituencies.
When reports last came in, Tamil Nadu had seen only 10 percent voter turnout in the first hour of the polling.
