Polls: Final phase kicks off in Assam amid tight security

Official sources informed that without taking any risk, security has been tightened in the sensitive Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) area in lower Assam and in Indo-Bhutan and Assam-Meghalaya border.
Election office sources said that polling began peacefully on a brisk note at 7:00 AM with long queues of voters at the polling booths.
Recently, two people were killed during poll-related violence. The Election Commission had identified 2,033 polling stations as hypersensitive, 4,175 as sensitive and 475 of the total 12,589 stations as vulnerable.
However, the election will decide if the Congress will be able to keep its power for the third consecutive term or will be dethroned by the Opposition alliance. The election will, finally, decide the fate of the two-time former chief minister and opposition leader Prafulla Kumar Mahanta, opposition Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) president Chandra Mohan Patowary and senior ministers Himanta Biswa Sarma and Rockybul Hussain. The election results will be declared on May 13
