Support for Anna Hazare
New Delhi, Apr 8: The Gandhinian crusader Anna Hazare is holding his anti-corruption protest at Delhi's Jantar Mantar. Hazare started his fast-unto-death agitation to pursue the government in implementing Lokpal Bill in the Parliament. (What is Lokpal Bill?)

Hazare suddenly became the talk of the town and all media organisations are covering each and every single move of Hazare and his followers. The media activities at Jantar Mantar remind the scenes of Amir Khan production movie - Peepli Live. The movie explores the topic of "farmer suicides" in India and also showed the role played by media in this society. (Who is Hazare?)

On Friday, Apr 8, when Hazare's fast has entered the fourth day, 42 outside broadcasting (OB) vans of various TV channels were present at the venue to catch the movement minutely. Sources also informed that a popular TV news channel had even set up a walk-in studio at Jantar Mantar.

However, unlike the main character in the movie, Hazare received nation-wide support for his noble cause. Now, Hazare announced a 'jail bharo' movement across the country on Apr 13 after the government rejected his demands of chairmanship of the joint drafting committee being given to a civil society member and for a formal notification.

The social-activist claimed, "I felt that the 'jail bharo' agitation should take place in the entire country. But you should participate in the agitation keeping in mind Mahatma Gandhi. There should be no violence anywhere."

Meanwhile, UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee urged Hazare to end his fast. Mukherjee on Friday, Apr 8 said, "I appeal to Anna Hazare to end the fast and participate in the informal committee. Talks are going on with Anna Hazare."

Now, all Indians should stand by Anna Hazare and should show their power by participating at "jail bharo" andolan. Indian media also should play a constructing role in promoting Hazare's movement and helping Hazare's voice reach to all Indians. Please share your opinion and views with OneIndia.
