7.4 magnitude quake jolts Japan, tsunami alert issued

Japan earthquake
Tokyo, April 7: Barely has Japan managed to recover from the massive earthquake that triggered a devastating tsunami in March 2011, the country has again been jolted on April 7 by a quake measuring 7.4 on the Richter scale. The national meteorological department has already issued a tsunami warning for the country.

The quake has hit the north-eastern coast of Japan, the area that was devastated in the earthquake and subsequent tsunami in March. However there has been no reports of any damage in the area or to the nuclear plant that has been crippled by the earlier tsunami.

Nearly 28,000 people are estimated to have died in the Mar 11 catastrophe. The Fukushima nuclear plant has been completely crippled and as radiation levels are increasing with traces of it being found in food and air in the nearby regions.
