B'lore: Time granted to give correct version in Jaya case

J Jayalalithaa
Bangalore, Apr 6: A Court here today (Apr 6) granted time till Apr 19 to the official interpreter to furnish correct version of recorded statements of witnesses in the disproportionate asset case against former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa.

Special Court Judge B M Mallikarjunaiah, before whom the trial came up today, granted time to the official interpreter to compare the original version of recorded Tamil statements with ''defects'' pointed out by defence in translated version in English and accordingly furnish the suggested correct version on Apr 19.

On Apr 2, the defence had filed an application pointing out "mistakes" in the translated version (in English) of the statements of 55 witnesses in the case.

In all there are 259 witnesses in the case.
