Ratan Tata & Radia to appear before PAC

New Delhi, Apr 3: TATA Industries chairman Ratan Tata and corporate lobbyist Niira Radia will appear before Parliament's Public Accounts Committee (PAC) on Monday, Apr 4 in connection with the alleged irregularities in the allocation of 2G spectrum.

Sources reported that Radia is scheduled to appear before the panel, headed by senior BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi, at 11am. The panel may quiz Radia in connection with the leaked phone conversation with politicians, corporates, bureaucrats, and journalists.

Ratan Tata is scheduled to appear before the PAC at 3pm. It is expected that PAC would record Tata's stance for the allegations related to allocation of 2G and 3G spectrum.

Reliance Communications chairman Anil Ambani, Etisalat DB Telecom CEO Atul Jham, S-Tel CEO Shamik Das and Unitech Wireless managing director Sigve Brekke will appear befor PAC on Tuesday, Apr 5.

A Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC), chaired by Congress leader PC Chacko, has also been set up to look into all the details of the 2G spectrum allocation in 2008 and in the telecom sector from 1998 onwards.

Earlier on Saturday, relating to the 2G spectrum scam, Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) filed charge sheet against former Telecom Minister A Raja, some of his close aides and a couple of real estate companies for allegedly defrauding the exchequer and entering into a criminal conspiracy for securing telecom licenses.
