Microsoft to offer NFC mobile payment system on WP7 mobiles

San Francisco, Mar 30: According to latest rumor mills reports, Microsoft will enhance the Near Field Communication (NFC) technology that enables users for mobile payments on their Windows Phone 7 devices.

Citing inside sources, Bloomberg reported that Microsoft Windows Phone 7 smartphones with NFC technology will be launched by the end of 2011. So, lets assume that the upcoming Nokia WP7 smartphones will be equipped with NFC.

Using the NFC embedded smartphones, users can make purchases by waving their smartphones in front of a small reader at the checkout counter. With NFC enabled smartphones, users can replace their credit cards and hopefully, the wallets also.

Earlier, the Nexus S smartphone maker Google maded alliance with MasterCard Inc and Citigroup Inc for the development of Near Field Communication (NFC) system on smartphones. Also, Google teamed up with credit-card reader maker, VeriFone Systems for making contact-less readers.

The NFC powered WP7 smartphones will help Microsoft and Nokia to compete with upcoming NFC enabled Android smartphones and the rumored Apple iPhone 5.
