Mirror, mirror, on the wall, who's the richest of them all?

With the Election Commission making it mandatory for all candidates to declare their assets, its Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Karunanidhi's and Opposition leader Jayalalithaa's turn to reveal what they are really worth.
Karuna's net worth?
Karuna has revealed his assets with great humility worth Rs 41 crores that was the combined figure of the DMK head and his two wives, Rajathi and Dayalu Ammal. The assets also include fixed deposits and properties worth Rs 4.1 crore. Dayalu Ammal is the mother of DMK leaders MK Azhagiri, who is also a Union Minister and MK Stalin, The Deputy CM of Tamil Nadu. Rajathi, on the other hand is the mother of Kanimozhi.
Dayalu has claims to immovable properties worth Rs 4.1 crore, a car worth Rs 16 lakhs and a whopping 60 per cent stake in Kalaignar TV that is valued at Rs 6 crore that has recently come under the investigative officials scanner for the dubious links to the spectrum scam. The list though does not end there with gold jewellery worth Rs 10.96 lakhs, other jewellery worth Rs 1.6 lakhs and a house in Tiruvarur (Karuna's constituency) worth Rs.5.51 lakhs also featuring in the treasure trove.
Rajathi also owns some sizeable property that includes 25 lakh shares worth Rs 2.5 crore in Westgate Logistics firm, gold jewellery worth Rs 9.85 lakhs and a house in Chennai worth Rs 3.14 crore.
Where does Jayalalithaa fare in the number game?
AIADMK Chief J Jayalalithaa is not far behind and rules the roost in the number game where assets are concerned. She has declared assets worth Rs 51.40 crore, which is higher than Karuna's coffers.
The moolah includes Rs 25,000 liquid cash-in-hand, a bank balance of Rs 4.5 lakhs and a fleet of five cars worth Rs 8.35 lakhs. The list swells further with Jaya owning agricultural land worth Rs 11.3 crore and four commercial buildings both in Chennai and Hyderabad valued at Rs 6 crore 39 lakhs.
She also holds ownership of immovable assets worth Rs 38.37 crore that includes a lush 14.5 acres of grapeyards in Andhra Pradesh and Rs One crore worth tea estate in Kodanad, Nilgiris districts.
She also revealed through her affidavit that other bank deposits of Rs 2 crore and investments in shares costing Rs.50,000 had already been seized by police and was under court custody. She was earlier indicted in an economic offence case.
But Jaya's most prized possession remains her Poes Garden residence that is valued at around Rs 20.16 crore.
The upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly Polls will see Karunanidhi wooing voters from his home constituency in Tiruvarur and Jayalalithaa contesting from the temple town of Srirangam.
