United move to corner UPA: Oppn walks out again from Parl

New Delhi, Mar 25: Today (Friday, Mar 25) Parliamentary proceedings has been disrupted once again but this time with a new agenda. Recently, Opposition parties led by BJP staged a walkout over the PM's "misleading" statement regarding cash-for-votes controversy. Now, CWG has taken the center.

Senior BJP leader LK Advani demanded to table the investigation report of Shunglu Committee which probed the alleged irregularities in Commonwealth Games 2010 (CWG).

Advani, during the proceedings in Lok Sabha claimed that the government should present the investigation report today itself and the party leader also sought to have a discussion on the findings of the report.

At the beginning of the session three issues related to corruption were raised - (2G spectrum allocation, conduct of Commonwealth Games and the Adarsh Housing scam) said Advani.

The Shunglu panel submitted its report yesterday and showed Delhi Lt Governor Tejinder Khanna and EMAAR MGF as the accused in alleged irregularities of the Delhi Games.

The panel has now calculated the loss of the CWG scam to Rs 220 crore to the country's exchequer. The real estate developer EMAAR is also being accused of selling 333 flats at a hiked price resulting in an loss of Rupees 222 crore. There are also evidence pointing to unauthorized payments made to EMAAR to the tune of Rs 64 crores. (Shunglu Committee report)

However, citing the irresistible protest by the Opposition, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal said, "I will convey to the government through the minister concerned and convey the feelings of the House. If any action has to be taken in the matter it would be taken."
