Cash-for-votes: Sushma bowled out 'unaware' PM in Parliament
Taking the complete privilege to criticise the PM, Sushma asked Dr Singh, "agar appko kuch bhi nahi pata, tho aap PM kyun hai? (if you don't know anything, then why are you the PM?)"
The Opposition leader bowled out the PM who always tries to keep himself aside whenever any grievous questions are thrown to him. Recently, answering to the cash-for-votes scandal revealed by the whistle-blower WikiLeaks, the PM stated, "I have no knowledge of any such purchases and I am absolutely categorical, I have not authorised anyone to purchase any votes. I am not aware of any acts of purchase of votes."
This was not the first time the PM tactfully avoided his responsibilities by showing his "unawareness." Starting from the appointment of former CVC PJ Thomas to allotment of 2G spectrum to telecom companies, the PM has always claimed that he was not aware of those issues.
Congress led UPA government have encountered several corruption allegations like Adarsh Housing scam, CWG 2010 fiasco, 2G spectrum, CVC appointment and so on. Surprisingly, the PM always have sided himself from all accusations by distancing himself from his responsibilities.
Today's debate in Parliament over Dr Singh's alleged "misleading" the House in cash-for-votes scam really raised questions about Manmohan Singh's integrity as the PM.
Manmohan Singh, who held a stone face during Sushma Swaraj's entire speech in the House today, is expected to answer all questions. Now, the "mukhiya" (head) is expected to hold the bat to accomplish his "zimmedari" (responsibility) properly.
