Capitalism killed life on Mars: Hugo Chavez

Hugo Chavez
Caracas, Mar 23: If Hugo Chavez, President of Venezuala is to be believed then there was life in Mars and the reason it got wiped away was the advent of capitalism on the planet. Incredible as it may sound, but the comments have once again shown his deep hatred for capitalist economies.

In a speech to commemorate World Water Day, Chavez said, "I have always said, heard, that it would not be strange that there had been civilization on Mars, but maybe capitalism arrived there, imperialism arrived and finished off the planet."

The Venezuelan President also said, "Careful! Here on planet Earth where hundreds of years ago or less there were great forests, now there are deserts. Where there were rivers, there are deserts."

Chavez, a socialist himself and staunch critic of the USA and western countries also argued that the current invasion of Libya was more to do with its oil and water reserves than the freedom of Libyans from Gaddafi.
