New Delhi, Mar 22: Dr.Devi Shetty, Founder of Narayana Hrudayalaya will be a happy man after news emerged that the government is likely to roll back the 5 per cent tax on healthcare that was also termed 'misery tax' by those in the business. The proposal had met with stiff opposition from various quarters that could have impacted health care for the less-privileged amongst us in a negative way.

The Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee is expected to make the announcement in Lok Sabha today. He will also table the Goods and Services Tax bill before the Parliament. The health care tax imposed had led to a public outcry among those in the medical fraternity with Dr.Devi Shetty emerging in the forefront expressing his ire.

Dr Shetty was involved in an immense amount of charitable endeavors had called the new move from the govt insensitive and had declared Mar 12 as 'Misery Day'. He had also organized an 'Axe the Health Tax' campaign calling all citizens to register their protest that Dr.Shetty called anti-aam aadmi.

It's finally kudos to Dr.Shetty and also to the government for waking up to the issues of the public. A welcome change indeed!
