CPI(M) seeks EC action against Trinamool for code violation

"This is a glaring example of the use of government property and power for the purpose of election campaign," CPI(M) state secretary Biman Bose said in a communication to the Chief Election Commissioner.
Bose alleged that pictures of the Railway Minister were still being displayed in Eastern and SouthEastern railway headquarters at Fairlie Place and Garden Reach.
"Moreover, in most of the office rooms of the railway department, calendars of 2011 containing photographs of the Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee, printed and published by Railwaymen's Congress, are still on display till date.
"Some posters with election symbol are stuck on the office walls of the Railway," the CPI-M leader said, alleging that some AITC flags were still being hoisted in most of the railway stations of the state.
The CPI(M) leader alleged that no action had yet been taken by the Railway authority or by the Election Commission even 20 days after the announcement of Assembly election.
A copy of the communication was sent to the state's chief electoral officer. West Bengal will go for a six-phase poll, starting Apr 18.
