Fresh quake hits Japan; epicenter near Fukushima Nuke plant
Today (Saturday, Mar 19) the land of rising sun - Japan was shaken with another tremble with 6.1 magnitude. Sources informed that the epicenter of the recent quake was near Fukushima nuclear power plant.
The country had already witnessed massive earthquakes and tsunami on Mar 11 followed by nuclear explosions in Fukushima nuclear plant.
More than 7,000 people were reportedly dead so far. Though unofficial reports claimed that the death toll had crossed 10,000 in Miyagi only. Miyagi was the worst effected place in the tsunami.
However, recent media reports shocked many when Japanese Daily reported that Japan turned down an offer of timely help from the US to provide technical assistance in the event of overheating of the reactors.
Unidentified sources revealed that US had offered support to dismantle the troubled reactors run by the Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) , 250 kms northeast of Tokyo.
