Chiranjeevi's daughter files harassment case against hubby

Hyderabad/New Delhi, Mar 15: Praja Rajyam Party and the popular Telegu cine actor Chiranjeevi's daughter Srija moved Central Crime Station (CCS) police alleging husband Sirish Bharadwaj for sexual harassment and dowry.

Srija, who eloped with Sirish in Oct 2007, filed a harassment case for dowry against her husband. Chiranjeevi's youngest daughter lodged a complaint against her husband where she claimed that Sirish allegedly torture her mentally and physically for dowry.

According the police sources, Srija had already given several crores of rupees to Sirish and now her husband is demanding Rs 1.5 crore more.

"But of late there has been no end to his greed and it has become a daily practice for him to get drunk and torture his wife," the police official informed citing Srija's complaint.

Police has issued a case under under section 498-A (subjecting a married woman to cruelty) of the IPC against Sirish and sources reported that he was already taken into custody. Though police has not declared anything about his arrest.

The incident occurred when Chiranjeevi is busy with his party PRP which has recently marked a history by merging his party with Congress. Confirming the news, Chiranjeevi previously had announced, "we (Congress and PRP) are merging for the upliftment of the people of Andhra Pradesh."
