Mulayam Singh, son under house arrest, let off

New Delhi, Mar 7: After Samajwadi Party Chief Mulayam Singh Yadav offered his support to the troubled UPA government after the DMK withdrew its support. The SP has an all together new challenge to deal with. Mulayam Singh Yadav and his son Akhilesh Singh were put under house arrest today (Mar 7) in Lucknow. He was released after half an hour.

They were arrested after they threatened to hold a three-day agitation in the state (Uttar Pradesh) against the alleged misrule of the BSP government. They were apprehended as a preventive measure so as to avoid any sort of untoward incident that might emerge in the state.

Mulayam Singh expressed his wrath on the issue and wrote a letter to Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar on the issue and said, "I was not allowed to move out of the house to attend Lok Sabha. This is gross violation of law."

Mulayam Singh was also quoted as saying, "The SP agitation against Mayawati in the state has been successful. I have written a letter to Lok Sabha speaker against the Mayawati government."

The Uttar Pradesh Police have made other preventive arrests across the state including many other SP leaders.
