Azhagiri issued notice by Election Commission

MK Azhagiri
New Delhi, Mar 6: After the DMK pulled the plug from the ruling UPA governments lifeline, by withdrawing its support from the UPA government. Now it is the turn of the DMK itself to face a set back. The Election Commission issued a notice to MK Azhagiri, the Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizers for violating the model code of conduct.

He violated the Election Commissions directive that if a Union Minister visits a poll-bound state on official business, he has to intimate the State's Chief Secretary. The EC confirmed that though he sent the letter on Mar 3 to the Chief Secretary, he actually went to Tamil Nadu on Mar 2. He traveled to his constituency in Madurai on Mar 2 on political duties.

The Election Commission has sought a reply from Azhagiri by Monday, 11 am.
