CWG 2010
New Delhi, Mar 3: It seems that Commonwealth Games 2010 (CWG) hangover does not want to leave Indians so easily. It is almost five months that the Games is over but still some or the other news reminds all that how much corruptions were practiced during CWG 2010. After CWG organising officials, now, former Prasar Bharati CEO came under the scanner of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

CBI has filed an First Information Report (FIR) against Lalli. Sources also reported that CBI may arrest Lalli but he may avoid arrest if Lalli would co-operate with CBI. Though Lalli has so far denied all allegations against him.

CBI, during the early morning on Friday, Mar 4, raided Lalli's residence in New Delhi in connection with alleged irregularities regarding CWG broadcasting rights. Lalli is an IAS officer of 1971 passed out batch.

The investigative agency also has conducted raids at Lalli's office in Mandi House. Lalli has been accused of wrongdoings in CWG broadcasting deal which has caused the nation a whopping Rs 135 crore loss.

Lalli was suspended after Prime Minister's Office (PMO), depending on Information and Broadcasting Ministry's approval, ordered criminal proceedings against Lalli.

The ministry earlier showed green signal to CBI to to probe Lalli's role in award of broadcasting rights of the Commonwealth Games to UK based SIS Live.

The latest move can become a major set back for sacked CWG chief Suresh Kalmadi whose bank lockers also have been raided. Sources also reported that Kalmadi can be detained at any time over his alleged role in the Delhi Games irregularities.
