Army traps militants, encounter still on

Srinagar, Mar 2: A fierce gun-battle is on between Indian security forces and a few terrorists in the Tral village of Pulwama district in southern Kashmir.

According to latest reports, one terrorist has been killed and a soldier injured. PTI has quoted Awantipora Superintendent of Police (SP) Mohammad Irshad as saying, "One militant has been killed and his body has been recovered, while searches are on for his associates, if any."

The deceased militant has been identified as Shabir Ahmad.

Police are said to have recovered the dead militant's body and are still continuing to track his associates, if any. Earlier, police suspected that there might have been two terrorists hiding in the house.

According to reports, state police and soldiers cordoned off the house on Mar 1 and launched an attack, early in the morning on Mar 2.
