Raja seeking video conferencing approval

New Delhi, Mar 1: After various political parties clamoured to be part of the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) to probe into the 2G spectrum scam, the man in the eye of the storm Former Telecom Minister A Raja too wants to be part of the circus. He moved a Delhi court yesterday (Feb 28) seeking the conduct of judicial procedures on the spectrum scam through video conferencing.

The application is still under consideration and pending approval. Filed by advocate Ramesh Gupta on Raja's behalf to the special CBI judge O P Saini, the court will decide on the appeal today (Mar 1).

The CBI had recently come up with some damaging evidence on Raja's role in the 2G spectrum scam and how he unfairly favoured certain telecom companies. The particular instance of Swan Telecom being benefitted due to Raja's favouritism. Questions where raised that in spite of Swan Telecom not fulfilling any of the criteria set forth still managed to get the licenses. Allegations were rife that Raja along with his telecom secretary Siddhartha Behura overlooked the issues to the telecom companies advantage.

A Raja along with Siddhartha Behura, R K Chandolia and the promoter of Swam Telecom is under judicial custody and housed at the Tihar Jail at the moment.
