Vodafone 3G service starts; Data Plans review

Mumbai, Feb 28: Joining the 3G Club along with Airtel, Aircel, Tata Docomo and BSNL, India's second largest telecom provider - Vodafone - has announced the launch of its 3G services in India.

Vodafone announced various 3G plans according to the needs of the users. Vodafone 3G services would be available for both pre-paid and post-paid customers. The existing Vodafone users can avail the 3G services by activating it through a 3G compatible phone.

Vodafone 3G services will offer Mobile TV, video calls, web browsing through computers or laptops, high-speed downloading etc. Vodafone claimed that video calls on Vodafone 3G network does not use data channels rather accesses voice channels. Thus, it would be more beneficial for customers as their bills will be according to the number of minutes spoken multiplied by the rate per minute.

Vodafone 3G Data Plans:
* Rs 100 - 100 MB
* Rs 375 - 500 MB
* Rs 850 - 3 GB
* Rs 500 - 500 MB + 500 Minutes talk time + 500 SMS
* Rs 1,250 - 5 GB
* Rs 1,000 - 1000 MB + 1000 Minutes talk time + 1000 SMS

Vodafone 3G Broadband Data Plans:
* Rs. 650 - 1 GB
* Rs 850 - 3 GB
* Rs 1,250 - 5 GB
* Rs 3,250 - 1 GB/month for six months
* Rs 4,250 - 3 GB/month for six months
* Rs 6,250 - 5 GB/month for six months
