Nokia preps Symbian update; UI video looks great!

Nokia N8
Helsinki, Feb 28: It would be a rocking news for Nokia Symbian smartphone users. Amidst the rumors of 'Mercy kill on Symbian' to adopt Microsoft Windows Phone 7 operating system, the media reported that Finnish phone maker Nokia has been planning to launch an update for the current Symbian 3 OS.

During a press conference in China, Nokia presented an image of the N8 smartphone with a new Homescreen. The images suggest that it was a revamped User Interface (UI), that would be available with Symbian update.

The new UI photo of Nokia N8 shows redesigned widgets, a new notifications' bar and some changes at the bottom of the homescreen.

Adding more spice, a new leaked video started doing rounds, claiming it as the new features of Symbian update. It reveals a split-screen text input and some major browser improvements to Nokia Symbian devices like Nokia N8, Nokia C7, Nokia C6-01 and Nokia E7.

These are all just rumors and the world's largest mobile maker, Nokia, has not yet confirmed any of these hoaxes. But, during a recent press conference, Nokia officials promised that the company will offer "completely new devices" and "improvements in hardware performance."
