14-year-old raped, accused absconding

Nahan (HP), Feb 27 (PTI) A 14-year-old girl was rapedallegedly by a villager in Sirmaur district in HimachalPradesh, police said today.

A case has been registered against Sandeep Kumar undersection 376 and 506 of IPC on the complaint of the mother ofthe victim and a manhunt had been launched to nab the culprit.

Nishchint Negi, DSP, Rajgarh said the medicalexamination had confirmed that the victim was raped.

In her complaint, the woman alleged that her daughter,a student of Class VII, was returning home from the village ofher maternal uncle yesterday and was passing through a forestarea when she was attacked and raped by Kumar who hails fromher village.

After the girl narrated the episode to her parents,they reported the matter to the police.
