Over 400 IAS/IPS officials furnish asset details

Patna, Feb 26 (PTI) Facing the prospect of their salariesbeing withheld due to non-declaration of assets, most of theabout four lakh government employees in Bihar, including morethan 400 IAS/IPS officers have furnished their details aheadof the February 28 deadline, official sources said today.

Most of the government employees, group one to groupthree staff, have submitted their asset details to theconcerned drawing and disbursal officers in compliance with arecent government circular directing them to make public theirassets, Principal Secretary (General Administration) DeepakKumar told PTI here.

The remaining government employees were also likely tofollow suit ahead of the February 28 deadline, he said.

The assets details of the government employees would becompiled upon receipt of information from all district andwill be posted on the website for public viewing, Kumar said.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar after taking up office forthe second term last year had issued a circular directing thestate government employees to submit their assets details byFebruary 28 to bring in transparency in governance.

They were warned that their salaries will be withheld ifthey failed to furnish the details within the stipulated timeframe.

Kumar and his council of ministers had themselvesdeclared their asset details by December 31. PTI AJK KDKKK
