One person killed, eight houses gutted in a fire

Mother and two daughters burnt alive in Orissa

Bhadrak (Orissa), Feb 26 (PTI) A woman and her twodaughters were burnt alive and her two other childrenseriously injured when the house in which they were sleepingcaught fire in Orissa''s Bhadrak district, police said heretoday.

The fire broke out killing Subhadra Das (38) and herdaughters Rasmita (10) and Saraswati (six) while Subhadra andher four children were sleeping in their thatched house atBadanga last night, police said.

Two children, identified as Jagabandu and Manik,were battling for their life at the SCB Medical CollegeHospital with serious burn injuries.

Meanwhile, father of the woman Nabakishore Das hadlodged an FIR alleging that her husband Amar Das had hatched aconspiracy to kill Subhadra and her four children.

Amar stays in Kolkata and is married to anotherwoman there, police quoted Nabakishore as having said in theFIR.

Superintendent of Police Jayanarayan Pankaj said acase had been registered against the husband of Subhadra onthe basis of the complaint filed by her father.

Inquiry into the incident was on and no arrest hadbeen made in this connection so far, he said.

Post-mortem of the bodies was conducted at thedistrict headquarters hospital here today. PTI COR AAM
