Male passenger held for capturing women in mobile camera
Coimbatore, Feb 26 (PTI) A 30-year-old man, who allegedlycaptured photographs of women passengers in a train, landed inthe central jail here.
According to railway sources, one Arumugam, a resident ofthe city and working as a labourer in Thalassery in Kerala wasarrested based on the complaint by a couple in an unreservedcompartment of Mangalore-Chennai West Coast Express yesterday.
The accused, sitting on the luggage rack was using hismobile camera and clicking photographs of women passengersseated below. As the train reached Podanur, on the cityoutskirts yesterday morning, a woman noticed Arumugam tryingto capture her in his mobile and started scolding him, theysaid.
Based on a complaint by a couple, police nabbed Arumugamand on examining his mobile phone found many photographs ofwomen from different angles, the sources said.
Arumugam was arrested and cases under section 294 (b) and509 of IPC for intruding into the privacy of women withintention to insult their modesty. He was remanded to judicialcustody for 15 days, after producing before a court, thesources added.
