Lawyers across UP boycott work

Lucknow, Feb 26 (PTI) Lawyers across Uttar Pradeshboycotted official work in courts today to protest the policelathicharge on their counterparts in the state capital.

The lawyers also damaged hoardings of Chief MinisterMayawati and the state government in various districtsincluding Mau, Azamgarh and Farukhabad.

They were protesting the lathicharge by police hereyesterday on lawyers who were going to the chief minister''sresidence to hand over a memorandum of their demands,including more allocation of funds for their welfare in thestate budget.

Several lawyers and policemen were injured in the clashand a number of government vehicles were damaged.
