Judge visists lower court
Chennai, Feb 26 (PTI) Madras High court judge Justice ElipeDharam Rao today made a spot inspection at the Saidapet Courthere and found several lapses there.
Such an inspection was conducted by a Portfolio Judgein any subordinate court in Chennai after 22 years.
The judge found that many non-bailable warrants and FIRswere pending for long in that courts and nearly 44,000 caseswere pending before the courts.
It was also found that many valuable and non-valuableproperty remained in the courts even though the casesconcerned had been disposed of long ago, official sourcessaid.
The judge also visited the sub-jail and interacted withinmates there.
The Judge asked Chief Metropolitan Magistrate andMagistrates to conduct regular meetings with police and seethat the pending warrants and FIRs were disposed in accordancewith law.
