'Huge support for far right party, if they give up violence': Searchlight poll
London, Feb.27 (ANI): The Far Right Party can get huge support if they are not linked with violence, says a searchlight poll.
A survey conducted in UK revealed that huge numbers of Britons would support an anti-immigration English nationalist party if it was not associated with violence and fascist imagery.
The poll pointed that 48 percent of the population would consider supporting a new anti-immigration party, which is committed to challenge the Islamist extremism.
According to the poll the level of support for a Far-Right Party could outstrip in countries such as France, the Netherlands and Austria.
France's National Front party is hoping to secure 20% votes in the first round of the presidential elections next year.
The Dutch anti-Islam party headed by Geert Wilders received 15.5% of the votes in last year's parliamentary elections.
According to the Anti-fascist groups the results of the poll have challenged the mindset that Britons were more tolerant than other Europeans, The Guardian reported.
"This is not because British people are more moderate, but simply because their views have not found a political articulation," said the Searchlight Educational Trust report, the anti-fascist charity that commissioned the poll.
The survey revealed that 39% of Asian Britons, 34% of white Britons and 21% of black Britons want immigrations in UK to be stopped.
Also, nearly 52 percent respondents agreed, "Muslims create problems in the UK".
Jon Cruddas Labour MP who fought a successful campaign against the British National party said that the findings have pointed to a "very real threat of a new potent political constituency built around an assertive English nationalism".
The poll pointed that around 60 percent people believe that they "should be allowed to say whatever they believe about religion" and 42 percent people believe that they must be allowed to express whatever they feel about race. (ANI)
