Fresh snowfall brings back cold wave in U''khand

Dehradun, Feb 26 (PTI) People remained inside their homesacross Uttarakhand as the state experienced a spell ofsporadic snowfall and rains today, reviving cold waveconditions.

The snowfall started in the high rise areas of the statelast night, Anand Sharma, a senior MeT official said.

Almora, Chamoli, Pithoragarh, Rudraprayag, Uttarkashi,Pauri and the high rise areas of Nanital were the mostaffected regions, he said.

The day temperatures plummeted across the state due tofresh rains and snow with state capital Dehradun recording alow of 9 degree Celsius last night while the maximumtemperature was 22 degrees.

The peaks of Garhwal, Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri,Yamunotri, Auli, Nanda Devi and some areas of Munsiyari werecovered with fresh snow.

Tourists flocked in large numbers here to enjoy the freshsnowfall, notwithstanding the intense cold conditions. PTICORR KAP
