Four robbers arrested; arms seized

Sonepat, Feb 26 (PTI) A district SIT team has arrestedfour suspected robbers after engaging them in an encounter inGohana here and seized a firearms from them, police saidtoday.

Acting on a tip-off, the SIT team surrounded the fourmotorcycle-borne youth, suspected to be involved in dacoityand theft in Haryana and Delhi, yesterday in Gohana, SonepatSSP K K Rao.

Finding themselves surrounded, the four started firingto which the SIT team retaliated, he said. However thesuspects -- Sandeep, Jaswant, Krishna and Vicky -- surrenderedafter brief the gunbattle.

They have allegedly confessed to their role in severaldacoity incidents in Delhi and Haryana, Rao said, adding thata bike, six pistols and a few live rounds were recovered fromthem.

The police said they had snatched away the motorcyclefrom a youth at Bilbilan village on gunpoint.

They have been booked under Arms act and on charges ofobstructing a government servant from discharging duty andattacking police with intent to murder.
