2 dist officials transferred for tension after razing temple

Lucknow, Feb 27 (PTI) Two district officials have beentransferred in connection with the demolition of a temple inKanshiram Nagar district earlier this week leading to tensionin the town.

Sub-divisional magistrate A K Saini and tehsildar JeetSingh have been transferred to ease the tension, officialsources said here today.

Tension erupted in the town after a 100-year-old templelocated at the gate of Kasganj tehsil premises was razed in ananti-encroachement drive on February 25 ahead of ChiefMinister Mayawati''s visit to the area.

The locals resorted to brick batting and agitationimmediately after the incident.

An FIR was registered against three officers includingADM Abdul Samad, SDM A K Saini and the tehsildar for allegedlyrazing the temple.

District Magistrate R K Singh had ordered an inquiry intothe incident and assured the agitators that the temple wouldbe rebuilt at the same place.
