HC didn''t resolve main dispute in Ayodhya case: Swarupanand

Mumbai, Feb 26 (PTI) Observing that the main dispute inthe Ayodhya issue was not yet resolved, Swami SwarupanandSaraswati, President of �Ramjanmabhoomi Punaruddhar Samiti�,today said the entire land should be handed over to Hindus sothat a Ram temple could be built there.

"The verdict given by the Allahabad High Court does notsolve the main dispute. Despite observing that the land wasLord Ram�s birth place, the court divided it into three partsbetween Hindus and Muslims," he said at a press conferencehere.

A three-member bench of Justices S U Khan, Sudhir Agarwaland D V Sharma of High Court had last year ruled that there bea three-way division of the disputed land - one-third for theSunni Waqf Board, one-third for the Nirmohi Akhara andone-third to the party for ''Ram Lalla''.

Ramjanmabhoomi Punaruddhar Samiti has approached theSupreme Court earlier this year challenging the High Courtorder.

"The disputed land belongs to Hindus and is the birthplace of Lord Ram. How can Hindus and Muslims divide the landand build a temple and a masjid so close to each there. Thereis bound to be tension and constant fights," Swarupanand said.

He however added that the temple should be built byresidents of Ayodhya, and not any of the political partieswhich have vested interests in the issue.
