Visa applicants should not be discriminated against: Krishna
Itanagar, Feb 25 (PTI): Union External Affairs Minister SM Krishna has said that there should not be any discriminationagainst visa applicants of Indian nationality on grounds ofdomicile or ethnicity.
In a letter to former BJP MP Kiren Rijiju, a copy ofwhich was made available to the press, Krishna said,''''Acceptance of stapled visas would imply a dilution ofIndia�s stand against Chinese territorial claim.''''
On January 25, Rijiju in a letter to Krishna had statedthat the decision of the Government of India to deny visit oftwo Arunachal Pradesh residents to China by rejecting thestapled visa was not a ''wise decision''.
Techi Abraham, the Joint Secretary of IndianWeightlifting Federation and lifter Yukar Sibi, who wereissued stapled visas by Chinese embassy, had to return fromthe Indira Gandhi International Airport on January 12 last.
They were to travel to China to take part in the ChinaIWF Weightlifting Grand Prix on January 13.
