SP workers clash with police; several injured

Jaunpur, Feb 24 (PTI) Several people, including somepolicemen, were today injured when SP workers clashed withpolice to protest the eviction of party MLAs from UttarPradesh Assembly while they were staging dharna after theHouse was adjourned sine die.

While SP workers indulged in stone pelting, policeresorted to lathi charge to disperse the agitating activistsand later detained some of them, officials said here.

Scores of SP workers, led by district president ParasNath Maurya took out a procession and burnt an effigy of theChief Minister.

Meanwhile, some SP workers clashed with police andindulged in brick batting after which police resorted tolathi charge.

Over 20 SP workers and some policemen were injured in theclash, they said.

Apprehending breach of peace, police detained 20 SPworkers, including district magistrate Maurya, who were laterreleased.
