One arrested for dacoity, burglaries

New Delhi, Feb 24 (PTI) One person, wanted in severalcases of dacoity and burglaries in West and Outer Delhi, hasbeen arrested, police said today.

Sheikh Akhtar, 24, was arrested yesterday afternoonduring a routine check at Ayodhya Chowk in Sector-6 and 7 ofRohini, when police asked him to stop.

But he took a U turn and tried to flee, a seniorpolice official said, adding that one motorcycle, allegedlystolen from Sector 15 Rohini, was also recovered.

With the arrest of Akhtar, several cases of dacoityand burglaries have been solved, said Chhaya Sharma, DCP OuterDistrict.

During interrogation, he said that he along with sixothers had stolen six tons brass from a godown from industrialarea in Badli and eight tons of gunmetal from a godown fromAnand Parwat.

Later, the scrap dealer was arrested and stolen goodswas recovered.

He further disclosed that he had also committed adacoity in a factory in Kirti Nagar and robbed Rs 1.6 lakh,mobile phones and brass scrap in huge quantity.
