Leadership is a legacy: Bagchi

Bangalore, Feb 25 (PTI): Leadership is a legacy to be leftbehind enriched with the lessons from the past, SubrotoBagchi, Gardener of Mindtree Ltd said.

Delivering the keynote address at the annual CFOConference 2011-Lessons from the past, leadership for thefuture organised by CII, Bangalore, Subroto Bagchi, MindtreeLtd, said "Leadership is all about leaving behind a legacy ina better shape what you have inherited from your past".

The leadership role of a CFO in any organization is ofutmost importance, keeping in mind the long term benefits ofthe company, he said.

Assertiveness, responsibility and fair practices areessential qualities of a leader, said Bagchi.

A CII- CRISIL report on ''leadership Agenda for CorporateIndia in The Next Decade'' was released to mark the occasion.

Raman Uberio, Senior Director, CRISIL Ratings, CRISIL Ltd,stated that the report is a forward looking document,examiningthe challenges and leadership imperatives for corporate Indiain the next decade.

S Chandrasekhar, Vice Chairman, CII Karnataka stated thatCFOs have to become strong leaders rather than technicalexperts because of the new demands they face every day.
