J&K govt approves Kanai Hydro-electric power project

JAMMU, FEB 24 (PTI) Jammu and Kashmir government todayapproved 50 MW Lower Kalnai Hydro-electric power project inthe state sector under Engineering Procurement andconstruction (EPC) mode giving directions for its earlylaunch.

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who is also Chairman ofJKSPDC, gave approval to the proposal of taking up Rs 409crore, 50 MW Lower Kalnai HEP in the state sector underEngineering Procurement and Construction (EPC) mode givingdirections for its early launch.

He also directed speeding up of work on Rs 686-crore 93MW New Ganderbal HEP. The Lower Kalnai HEP is likely to becommissioned in 2015

Abdullah laid thrust on speeding up implementationprocess of 600 MW Kiru, 520 MW Kawar and 1000 MW Pakaldulhydro electro projects (HEPs) in joint venture with NHPC andPTC for which promoters agreement has already been executedwhich was also rectified by the Board.
