IWFEA welcomes Guj proposal to introduce green cess
Vadodara, Feb 25(PTI) The Indian Wind Farm EnergyAssociation(IWFEA) has welcomed Gujarat government''s proposalto charge Green Cess of two paise per unit on the companiesusing fossil fuels for generation of electricity.
Talking to PTI here today, Anil Kane, President ofIWFEA said "This charge will mop up Rs 250 crore which will beused for the development of infrastructure facilities neededfor the development of non conventional source of energy likewind farm which has huge potential in the state,".
The green cess was necessary after the Gujaratgovernment signed MoUs with various companies for setting upof wind farms in the state at the just concluded VibrantGujarat Global Investors Summit, Kane said.
This charge imposed in the state budget will help insetting up of solar, wind, bio, geo-thermal, tidal and hydalenergy which are all non conventional sources of energy, hesaid. PTI Corr ABC
