Fund to be created to implement socially desirable projects in 12th plan
New Delhi, Feb 25 (ANI): Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee today said that out of 114 socially desirable new lines, updation of surveys for 94 lines will be completed by March 2011 and the remaining by December 2011.
Presenting the Railway Budget for 2011-12, Banerjee said: "Railways proposes to take up construction of these lines in the 12th Five Year Plan since this budget year is the terminal year of the 11th Five Year Plan.
The Minister said the Railways has proposed to create a fund to implement the socially desirable projects during the 12th Plan.
She said under the umbrella of this non-lapsable fund, not only will the pending socially desirable lines be completed , but many other similar new line projects would also be taken up.
Banerjee said the scheme is being named Pradhan Mantri Rail Vikas Yojana. (ANI)
